The Holland Farmers Market will celebrate Downtown Holland’s Fiesta Week with a special edition of its weekly Market Kids Activities on July 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. In partnership with Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP), families are invited to enjoy bilingual story time, hands-on activities, music, and a celebration of Mexican culture through food.

The morning begins at 9:30 a.m. with a special bilingual Market Story Time hosted by the Herrick District Library. From 10 to 11:30 a.m., LAUP will lead an interactive activity exploring the important role food plays in Mexican culture. Families can sample elote, a popular Mexican street food, while enjoying salsa music and activities that celebrate how food brings people and cultures together.

The mission of LAUP is to empower Latinos to participate in creating a better community for all through advocacy, education, and celebration. The organization provides a variety of programs and services, including a small-business hub, workforce development, youth programs, English as a Second Language and digital literacy classes, Spanish-language instruction, and translation and interpretation services.

Designed for children ages 3-10, the activities are educational, hands-on and fun. A parent or guardian must remain onsite throughout the event. Activities take place in the northwest parking lot outside the Holland Civic Center Place, 150 W. Eighth St. The 2026 Market Kids Activities are proudly sponsored by Corewell Health.

As part of Fiesta Week, LAUP will also host a special Fiesta performer showcase during the Gentex Street Performer Series on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at GDK Park on Eighth Street. The free evening event will feature performances by Monarcas, a traditional Mexican dance group from Grand Valley State University; the popular breakdance crew Flow Like Water; and Latino singer Edwin Campos. Visitors can also participate in an interactive Zumba lesson led by Yeli Romero, while DJ Alpha1 provides music throughout the evening between performances.
