Fast food restaurants to host hiring day

As students prepare to head back to school and many job seekers look for flexible employment opportunities, nearly 500 McDonald's restaurants across Michigan will open their doors for a statewide hiring day on July 29. All 500 locally owned and operated restaurants in Michigan will host walk-in interviews, with most locations conducting interviews between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. McDonald's restaurants across Michigan are looking to hire 2,500 Crew Members and Managers to support restaurants statewide.

Whether someone is looking for their first job, a flexible schedule while attending school, a second source of income or the start of a long-term career, McDonald's offers on-the-job training, schedule flexibility, competitive pay and a variety of benefits designed to help employees succeed both inside and outside the restaurant.

"McDonald's has long been a place where people gain valuable workplace experience while building skills that last a lifetime," said Ana Sanchez, McDonald's Owner/Operator and People Lead of the McDonald's of Michigan Business Association. "Whether you're a student balancing classes, a parent looking for flexibility or someone ready to take the next step in your career, our locally owned restaurants offer opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.”

Employees at participating McDonald's restaurants may also be eligible for Archways to Opportunity, an education program that has helped more than 92,000 restaurant employees nationwide since 2015. Through the program, eligible employees can receive college tuition assistance, earn a high school diploma, improve English language skills and access education and career planning resources.

The program continues to make a meaningful impact in Michigan. Over the past year alone, the McDonald's System provided nearly $1.5 million in tuition assistance to more than 660 Michigan Crew Members, helping them pursue educational goals while working at McDonald's restaurants.

For many, a job at McDonald's is just the beginning. One in eight Americans has worked at a McDonald's restaurant, and more than 70% say they learned valuable workplace skills they continue to use throughout their careers.
