Life EMS Ambulance celebrated the graduation of its first Ottawa County Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class on May 29, marking another milestone as the organization expands emergency medical services throughout the greater Grand Haven area.

The inaugural class began with 13 local students participating in the 14-week EMT training program hosted at the Grand Haven Township Fire Department. Nine students graduated from the program, including three current Life EMS associates. The EMT course launched earlier this year as Life EMS began providing 911 paramedic ambulance response services across several Ottawa County municipalities.

Due to strong interest in the program, Life EMS plans to host a second Ottawa County EMT class beginning in September. 24 students are already enrolled.

The new EMTs are: Max Cavallaro, Jamie Holt, Paul Maas, Caitlin Mazurek, Chas Noffsinger, Josephine Postema, Noah Ross, Josiah Stiggler, and Lara Todd.

Life EMS launched the EMT program in partnership with the Grand Haven Township Fire Department to help build a sustainable pipeline of trained emergency responders within the communities it now serves. Earlier this year, Life EMS began providing 911 paramedic ambulance response services for Spring Lake Township, the Village of Spring Lake, the City of Ferrysburg, Grand Haven Charter Township, the City of Grand Haven, Crockery Township, Robinson Township and Port Sheldon Township following a formal selection process conducted by the participating municipalities.
