Meals on Wheels Western Michigan (MOWWM) will host a free lunch event on May 15 at New Vintage Place from 12 to 1 p.m. The annual More Than a Meal Luncheon is a chance to learn firsthand about the impact MOWWM has on the lives of seniors in Kent and Allegan counties.

"Last year, 27 percent of our seniors shared that their Home Delivered Meals delivery driver was their sole weekly interaction. This figure underscores the critical significance of our work. Beyond addressing seniors' physical health through nourishment and safety checks, our drivers also play a role in bettering their mental well-being by fostering companionship and extending kindness," said Lisa Wideman, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels Western Michigan.

This year’s luncheon features Tommy Gordon, General Manager for the Great Lakes Central Division at Gordon Food Service, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on his extensive experience in the food service industry, Gordon will discuss the vital role of community support in enhancing the lives of seniors in need.

Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute directly to MOWWM's mission during the event. Donations help ensure the continuation of essential services, supporting both the physical and emotional well-being of seniors.

Lunch will be provided by More Than a Meal Catering.
