Lakeshore chorale announces 67th season, to hold auditions

The Holland Chorale has announced its 67th concert season, titled "Many Voices, One Song," under the artistic leadership of Dr. Philip Moody. This season celebrates global community and the power of choral music to inspire and connect, featuring a diverse repertoire ranging from 19th-century classics to contemporary multimedia works.

In a continued effort to make high-quality performances accessible to the entire community, the Holland Chorale is offering "Pay-What-You-Can" tickets for all mainstage concerts this season. All mainstage concerts will be hosted at Harderwyk Ministries, 1627 W Lakewood Blvd in Holland.

Auditions for the Holland Chorale will be held on Thursday, September 10. The West Michigan Children’s Choir, open to students in grades 3–8, will hold auditions on Monday, August 24.

The season opens on October 24 with Reflection. This musical retrospective continues the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary by exploring the choral canon that shaped the nation’s first choral societies. The program will include Haydn’s Little Organ Mass, Mendelssohn’s "He, Watching Over Israel," and Mozart’s "Ave Verum".

On December 5, the Holland Chorale will be joined by the West Michigan Children’s Choir for Celebration. This traditional holiday concert focuses on hope and exaltation, featuring favorites such as the Biebl “Ave Maria,” Bing Crosby’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and a community holiday sing-along.

The Holland Chorale will join forces with the Chamber Choir of Grand Rapids on March 13, 2027, presenting Collaboration. This unique performance will showcase over 100 voices joined in song, featuring works by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Randall Thompson, and Jake Runestad.

The mainstage season concludes on April 25, 2027, with Imagination, an exploration of the creativity of the human spirit. This innovative concert features three pieces by Jocelyn Hagen based on the writings of Leonardo da Vinci, accompanied by multimedia projections. This performance also serves as the season finale for the West Michigan Children’s Choir, celebrating a year of remarkable growth.
