Longtime PR leader remembered for joy, mentorship, and advocacy
Karen Kirchenbauer
Karen Marie Kirchenbauer, a respected West Michigan communications professional and beloved community member, passed away peacefully on August 31 after an 18-year journey with breast cancer.
Kirchenbauer spent nearly three decades at SeyferthPR in Grand Rapids, where she served as a principal and mentor to many in the field of public relations. She held a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), and was active with the West Michigan Public Relations Society of America, where she received the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Colleagues remember her for her energy, positivity, and unwavering support for others. Her faith, family, and community remained central to her life.
Services will be held September 5 and 6 in Troy and Clawson. In lieu of flowers, she requested a quiet act of kindness. For more information, visit https://www.desmondfuneralhome.com/obituaries/obituary-listings?obId=44937420.
