ArtPrize expands partnerships to showcase arts organizations

ArtPrize will use its expanded 22-day event to create a broader stage for the organizations shaping Grand Rapids’ creative community year-round. Through new and expanded partnerships with local cultural institutions and community organizations, the 2026 event will bring ballet, opera, symphonic music, children’s programming, fashion and neighborhood-based art experiences into accessible public spaces across the city.
The collaborations are part of ArtPrize’s continued evolution beyond a visual art competition into a citywide celebration of creativity. They will also introduce residents and visitors to Grand Rapids organizations they can experience and support long after ArtPrize concludes.
“ArtPrize has always been a platform for the arts,” said Tyler Loftis, Executive Director of ArtPrize. “We're expanding that inclusivity by partnering with some of the incredible institutions that are here year-round, that help make Grand Rapids the special place that it is.”

Grand Rapids Ballet will curate performances at Rosa Parks Circle on September 12, helping kick off ArtPrize’s revived preview week. Free to attend.
Grand Rapids Opera will take the stage at Rosa Parks Circle on September 19, bringing live opera into the heart of downtown during the competition. Free to attend.
In partnership with The Downtown Market, ArtPrize will host an interactive children's visual arts experience, Doodle Street, on September 26, designed to inspire young artists and families. Free to attend.
John Ball Zoo will host ArtPrize’s Halftime Party the evening of September 26, featuring animals, live painting, and a current snapshot of the competition’s standings. Free for ArtPrize Artists and Venue Managers to attend.
ArtPrize is partnering with the Southtown Corridor Improvement District on SouthPrize, an ArtPrize-adjacent competition in Grand Rapids' Third Ward, extending the celebration of creativity into one of the city's vibrant neighborhoods. Free to attend.
ArtPrize is collaborating with RC Caylan Atelier on a fashion show to coincide with the ArtPrize Awards Celebration at Acrisure Ampitheater on October 3, highlighting fashion as an evolving form of artistic expression. Free to attend.
ArtPrize 2026 will run from September 12 through October 3. Preview Week will take place September 12–17, followed by the official competition beginning September 18. The expanded event will unfold across four themed weekends celebrating dance, music, visual art and fashion. Hundreds of installations and programs will fill museums, parks, storefronts, performance spaces and unexpected locations throughout Grand Rapids.
