Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids invites the West Michigan community to join the 12th annual West Side Walk for Gilda’s on September 26, celebrating and supporting the thousands of lives touched by Gilda’s free emotional health programs for individuals and families navigating cancer or grief.

The family-friendly event begins with registration at 9 a.m. at Gilda’s Clubhouse, 1806 Bridge St. NW. Following a brief opening ceremony, participants will set off at 10 a.m. on a noncompetitive 1.5-mile community walk through the heart of Grand Rapids’ West Side. After the walk, attendees can enjoy a block party-style celebration featuring food, music, kids’ activities, and more. Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome to join the fun.

“This walk is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and connecting with others that understand what is it like to be on a journey of cancer or grief,” said Wendy Wigger, president & CEO of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. “Every dollar raised helps keep our emotional support programs free and accessible for anyone who needs them.”

There is no cost to register, but participants are encouraged to raise funds through peer-to-peer outreach. Last year’s walk generated over  $250,000, directly supporting free programming for those impacted by cancer or grief. Participants can create personal or team fundraising pages by calling 616-453-8300 or visit: GildasClubGR.org/Walk. Those who raise $150 or more will receive an exclusive event T-shirt.
