Employees from the Grand Rapids Gold and Founders Brewing Company teamed up to support local hunger relief efforts during a volunteer event at Feeding America West Michigan’s warehouse at 3070 Shaffer Ave. SE in Kentwood.

Volunteers sorted and packaged food for distribution to area families in need as part of the event. The effort supports Feeding America West Michigan’s mission to address food insecurity across a 40-county service area in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

In addition to volunteering, representatives from both organizations presented a $2,130 donation to Feeding America West Michigan. The funds were raised during the Grand Rapids Gold’s Fan Appreciation Night game on March 29. Buckets, the Gold’s official mascot, joined volunteers for the check presentation and photo opportunity.

“Founders has proudly partnered with the Grand Rapids Gold since 2021, and together with the team, we’re always thinking of new ways to support our beloved community in Beer City, USA,” said Anthony Corwin, marketing director, Founders Brewing Co./Mahou USA. “We wanted to do our part to help give back by volunteering and raising funds to help even more local families at this year’s Fan Appreciation home game. The best thing about Beer City is how we all come together to help others and make a difference.”

Feeding America West Michigan partners with more than 800 local agencies to distribute nutritious food to more than 1 million households annually. In 2024, the nonprofit distributed over 30 million pounds of food through food pantries, mobile distributions, senior meal programs, and youth initiatives.
