Ottawa County Veterans Services is scheduled to host its first-ever Veterans Job Fair on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fillmore Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore St in West Olive. The event is free and open to the public. It places a special emphasis on serving veterans, military spouses, and their families by providing opportunities to connect with over 20 local employers from a wide range of industries.

“We’re excited to bring together veteran-friendly employers and members of our community for this unique event,” said Jason Schenkel, Director of Ottawa County Veterans Services. “Whether you’re transitioning out of the military, reentering the workforce, or looking for a new opportunity, this job fair is designed to support your next step.”

Attendees will have access to career coaching, resume support, educational resources, and complimentary giveaways throughout the day.

"This event is more than just a job fair - it is a chance to connect the incredible skills and dedication of our veterans with employers who truly value their experience and expertise," said Kendra Wenzel, Ottawa County Commissioner and Veterans Services Committee Member. "Supporting our veterans in this way not only honors their service but also strengthens our community, economy and workforce. Our veterans are a vital part of what makes Ottawa County strong."

Held just days after National Hire a Veteran Day on July 25, the job fair underscores the county’s ongoing commitment to supporting those who have served.

"Job fairs like this are the cherry on top when it comes to building a strong, connected workforce in the area,” said Lilly Kraai, Recruiter at Hudsonville Ice Cream and vendor at the Job Fair. “They give us the scoop on incredible talent— especially veterans, whose leadership, hard work and strong work ethic are a perfect match for what we value at Hudsonville. Plus, it’s a sweet way to give back to the community that supports us. We’re always on the lookout for top talent to join our team, and we’re grateful to be part of an event that helps individuals take the next step in their career, supports local businesses, and keeps our local economy thriving."

Participating employers will be on site to meet with job seekers and provide information about a wide range of current job openings across Ottawa County and the surrounding region. This event offers attendees the opportunity to learn more about local companies, ask questions directly, and explore positions that align with their skills and career goals.

“Bellabay Realty is very excited about the upcoming Job Fair and the chance to connect with veterans and the Ottawa County community,” said Rachel Mabie, Bellabay Realty Associate Broker and vendor at the Job Fair. “These events are crucial for our West Michigan community and provide invaluable opportunities for individuals to connect directly with employers and discover new career paths, while also allowing businesses to meet a diverse pool of talented candidates.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and come prepared to speak with hiring representatives. No registration is required to attend. For more information, contact Ottawa County Veterans Services at (616) 393-VETS or veteranservices@miottawa.org.
