Downtown expands Fall Fest

Downtown Holland and Tulip Time are expanding their partnership for this year’s Fall Fest, taking place Oct. 2 and 3. The popular two-day festival, hosted by Downtown Holland, the Holland Farmers Market, Tulip Time, and Windmill Island Gardens, features live professional pumpkin carving, pumpkin carving displays, children’s activities, hayrides and more.
In addition to hosting a community-wide tulip planting and artisan makers market during Fall Fest, Tulip Time will offer a fall edition of its popular Proost! Tasting Tours during this year’s event.
“Fall Fest is a wonderful way to bring our community together,” said Gwen Auwerda, Executive Director of the Tulip Time Festival. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Downtown Holland to create even more opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the traditions, culture, and hospitality that make Holland so special.”
Fall Fest will kick off Oct. 2 with Tulip Time’s Community Tulip Planting from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors and community members can visit the Fall Fest or Tulip Time websites to sign up for a time slot to help plant 75,000 of Holland’s famous tulip bulbs at Window on the Waterfront in Downtown Holland. Tulips are planted in October so they will bloom in the spring in time for the annual Tulip Time Festival from April 30-May 9, 2027. Volunteers are also needed to plant tulips at Window on the Waterfront on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Tulip Time will also host its third annual Fall Fest Makers Market at the Holland Civic Center Place on Oct. 2 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Makers Market features more than 50 local artisans and crafters selling handcrafted jewelry, home décor, artwork, clothing, specialty foods and more. There is no fee to attend the Makers Market.
The Proost! Fall Tasting Tour is a spirited walking journey through Downtown Holland that blends local flavor with Dutch charm. This 21+ experience invites guests to stroll between three festive stops, each offering a curated selection of three 3 oz. alcoholic pours thoughtfully paired with small bites. Along the way, guests will enjoy a guided experience highlighting the history of Holland and its Dutch roots, exploring the city’s cultural influences and traditions that continue to shape the community today. The Fall Fest edition of the Proost! tour will be offered Oct. 2 and 3 at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at www.hollandfallfest.com and www.tuliptime.com.
