Bizarre Bazaar, Eastown’s annual artist market, will be hosted on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features artists, entertainment, food, family fun, and craft beer and takes place in the Ethel Lot, located at 420 Ethel Ave. SE, and along Ethel Avenue between Wealthy Street and Sigsbee Street.

Fondly known as “Biz Baz,” this Eastown tradition began in the 1980s as a grassroots market to showcase the neighborhood’s vibrant creativity. After a brief hiatus, it returned in 2001 and has remained a community favorite ever since.

“Biz Baz is unique because it’s a celebration of weird, wonderful handmade art from the most talented members of our community,” said Hal Phillips, Eastown Community Association Board Member and Events Committee Chair. “The circus theme is Eastown embracing the ‘bizarre’ part of Bizarre Bazaar, celebrating the eccentricity of our neighborhood.”

This year’s event will include 53 jury-selected makers, seven live music performances, two food trucks, a craft beer tent, and a carnival-style atmosphere.

Also returning is the popular Eastown Business Association Kids Bazaar, showcasing young entrepreneurs from the neighborhood selling handmade jewelry, 3D-printed items, stickers, and pins. The Kids Bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ethel Lot, with a rotating lineup of 16 young vendors. Additional family activities include free arts and crafts under the tent all day and face painting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
