Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park invites guests to celebrate the beauty of fall with Mums at Meijer Gardens, on display from October 1 to 31. Now in its 27th year, the exhibit features Michigan’s largest chrysanthemum display and the return of Autumn Nights on Tuesdays in October.
“Each season carries its own wonder, but autumn feels like a cherished farewell before winter’s solitude and why we especially love celebrating this fleeting time of year at Meijer Gardens,” said Wendy Overbeck Dunham, Director of Horticulture at Meijer Gardens. “The colors may soften from summer’s vivid display, yet their beauty runs just as deep as you will see by our floral displays – inviting us to linger a little longer outdoors, wrapped in the promise of the holidays ahead.”
Throughout October, the Grand Entry Garden, Victorian Garden Parlor, and Seasonal Display Garden will be filled with thousands of chrysanthemums in rich fall tones, along with expanded seasonal plantings, container displays, and floral scenes throughout the Gunberg and BISSELL Corridors. Guests will also find more than three times the pumpkins and gourds from past years, including unique varietals grown in partnership with Michigan farmers.
“Autumn invites us to slow down and notice,” Dunham added. “From glowing gardens to artful arrangements indoors, there’s beauty at every turn at Meijer Gardens during this remarkable season.”
Autumn Nights at Meijer Gardens returns Tuesdays in October (Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28) with extended hours until 9 p.m. The family-friendly evenings feature live music at the Amphitheater and Michigan’s Farm Garden, lawn games, refreshments, and the Glow Garden, an illuminated Pumpkin Walk through the Gwen Frostic Woodland Shade Garden lined with artist-carved pumpkins.
Additional fall programming includes the Fall Bonsai Show (Oct. 4–5), presented by the West Michigan Bonsai Club.
