Historic motel reimagined, opening in May

A historic motel along Michigan’s southwest shoreline is entering a new era. The former Bridgman Inn is being thoughtfully renovated and reimagined as The Warren Hotel, a boutique hotel set to open this coming May, just ahead of the Lake Michigan travel season.
located at 9999 Red Arrow Highway in Bridgman, near Weko Beach Park and Warren Dunes State Park, the hotel features twenty-four guest rooms and an in-ground pool, offering an inviting home base for those exploring Michigan’s southwest coastline. Originally constructed in the 1950s as one of the area’s earliest roadside lodging properties, the motel has long been part of Bridgman’s hospitality history. In 2024, the previous ownership completed significant structural updates, including the removal of one wing of the original building, resulting in the property’s current twenty-four-room footprint.
Under the ownership of West Michigan-based entrepreneurs Tony Stancato and Jordan Painter, the property is now undergoing a full interior and exterior transformation designed to introduce a refreshed and contemporary identity while honoring its legacy as a classic American motor lodge.
The Warren Hotel’s design is guided by a concept the team describes as “comfort meets modern Midwest cool.” Interiors are intended to feel sophisticated but never stiff, playful but precise; blending rich textures, warm tones, and collected details to create spaces that feel both elevated and welcoming. The aesthetic evokes the atmosphere of a moody Lake Michigan hideaway, where guests can settle in comfortably while still experiencing something distinctive and thoughtfully curated.
Renovations include professionally designed guest rooms with elevated finishes and carefully selected furnishings, alongside the addition of unique shared amenities and enhanced outdoor gathering spaces, including a pickleball court, sauna, fire pit, and hot tub. These spaces are designed to encourage relaxed connection and the kind of spontaneous moments that often define memorable travel experiences.
“We see The Warren Hotel as a natural extension of this stretch of Lake Michigan,” said Painter. “Our goal is to create a place that feels thoughtful, relaxed, and welcoming, where guests can enjoy elevated design, great amenities, and the easy rhythm of the lake all in one place.”
The Warren Hotel is scheduled to open to guests in mid-May. For more information, visit www.staythewarren.com.
