Holland Hospital has once again been recognized among the nation's top performers in orthopedic care, earning the Healthgrades 2027 Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award™. Holland Hospital is among the Top 10% of hospitals in the nation for Outpatient Joint Replacement and is the only hospital in Michigan to receive the recognition for four consecutive years (2024-2027).

These accolades recognize hospitals that consistently deliver superior clinical outcomes for patients undergoing outpatient joint replacement procedures.

In addition to the Excellence Award, Holland Hospital received: Five-Star Recipient for Hip Fracture Treatment for two consecutive years (2026-2027) and Five-Star Recipient for Outpatient Total Knee Replacement for four consecutive years (2024-2027).

“These recognitions highlight the expertise of our surgeons, nurses and rehabilitation staff who work together to deliver exceptional orthopedic care,” said Joe Bonello, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Holland Hospital. “Our focus remains on helping West Michigan patients regain function, mobility and quality of life through evidence-based care designed to help them return to the activities they enjoy most.”

Unlike rankings based on reputation or surveys, Healthgrades evaluates hospitals based on objective clinical outcomes, including risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates, across common conditions and procedures at hospitals nationwide.

The impact of choosing a top-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis found that patients treated at hospitals with nationally recognized outpatient programs had demonstrably better outcomes than those treated at hospitals not recognized for outpatient excellence. In fact, 36,628 complications could have been avoided if all hospitals had performed at the level of five-star-rated facilities during the 2023-2025 study period.
