Labor Day weekend celebration drives support for local cancer care

Cars for Cancer returns to the lakeshore this September. The two-day event, taking place at The Lakes Mall in Muskegon, will include a car show and cruise over Labor Day weekend. Event proceeds benefit the Trinity Health Johnson Family Cancer Center.

The 21st annual event kicks off Sunday, August 31, and continues through Monday, September 1. Organizers expect a strong turnout as car enthusiasts and community members gather to raise funds for local cancer care.

Sunday’s festivities run from 4 to 11 p.m. and feature a classic car show and cruise, followed by live music from Big Cadillac in the beverage tent.

On Monday, the event resumes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a full car show, food vendors, and a live auction offering collectible items. This year’s raffle includes a custom e-bike and a 1929 Ford Model AA Truck, among other prizes.

“What started as a gathering of a few car guys in a church parking lot has turned into a true community event. All in support of local cancer patients,” said Bill Hill, event coordinator.

The event is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring family and friends for a weekend of food, entertainment, and charitable giving.
