EV Construction, a national construction management firm headquartered in Holland, celebrated its 80th anniversary with a company-wide event at its headquarters, bringing together employees, retirees, families, and partners for an evening of live music, food trucks, and children’s activities.

The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of EV Sweets and Treats: Amped Up, a fully electric ice cream truck built on a Volkswagen ID. Buzz, wrapped in modern graphics. The new vehicle is the next chapter in EV’s mobile outreach efforts, expanding on the success of the Founders Express, a vintage mail truck-turned-traveling ice cream experience launched in 2022.

The week also marked the launch of EV’s new company website at www.ev.construction, designed to better showcase the people and projects that define the company.

“Eighty years is a remarkable achievement in any industry, but especially in construction,” said Mike Novakoski, President and CEO, EV Construction. “What’s allowed us to thrive is simple—we’ve always believed in putting people over profits. That mindset has attracted incredible talent, built long-lasting client partnerships, and created a culture that continues to grow stronger with every generation.”

Founded in 1945 as Elzinga & Volkers, EV has grown from local homebuilders into a nationally recognized commercial construction management firm. In the mid-1960s, EV helped launch GMB Architects and had key roles in landmark projects such as the Parke-Davis pharmaceutical plant and Holland and Grand Haven power plants.

Over the next two decades, they became trusted builders for national brands like General Mills and Kraft Foods, ultimately leading to the creation of their Grand Rapids-based sister company, The EV Group, and completed work for hundreds of school systems. In the 80’ and 90’s, they became a leader in the construction of large retail brands like Meijer and Target. During the early 2000’s, EV started their leadership in the healthcare and senior living markets with projects like Maple Creek and Zeeland Hospital.

Currently, EV is leading some of the region’s most important work in acute healthcare and senior living construction, including Southridge Behavioral Hospital for UHS/Trinity Health, Resthaven’s The Farmstead, and the Pine Rest Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health, while also in the planning stages for significant, local projects with Porter Hills, Friendship Village, Corewell Health, Holland Hospital, and Holland Home. The firm is working across many other commercial building markets with projects underway for Quality Car Wash, Wolverine World Wide and a number of public and private clients around the country.

As part of the company’s continued momentum, EV Construction recently expanded geographically with an increasing presence in Florida.
