Hotel to kick off summer with Caribbean-inspired party

JW Marriott Grand Rapids is kicking off summer with island flavor and riverfront flair at its Jdek at Margaux Opening Party: Lost In Paradise. The high-energy, Caribbean-inspired celebration is set for June 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Held along the hotel’s scenic Grand River patio, the event is a sensory experience featuring open-flame cooking, bold tropical cocktails, Caribbean music, and a curated island menu. Tickets are $65, which include private access to the event, reserved seating, and buffet dining throughout the evening.

Guests will be greeted by the scent of smoke and spice as JW Marriott’s chefs fire up a 500-gallon custom-built smoker, crafted by the hotel’s own engineering team, alongside an Argentine grill at the JDEK entrance. Signature dishes like jerk chicken with Scotch bonnet sauce, tomahawk steaks with chimichurri, grilled snapper, and island-style octopus will be prepared live on-site. Sides and small plates will include coconut rice and peas, fried plantains, and Puerto Rican rice. A tropical dessert spread rounds out the menu with coquito cheesecake, Jamaican rum cake, and budin de pan.

The evening’s soundtrack includes Caribbean soundscapes, from steel drums to reggae beats.

A hand-crafted cocktail bar will feature custom island drinks such as the Jamaican Mule, Tropical Rum Punch, and the fan-favorite Coconut Margarita, each paired to enhance the evening’s menu.
