Journey Construction Group (JCG), a Jenison-based general contractor, will begin demolition on August 18 at its headquarters on 750 Chicago Drive to make way for a two-phase office and warehouse development. The two-phase project, years in the making, will replace JCG’s existing office and warehouse with a 15,521-square-foot two-story facility that will serve as both the company’s new headquarters and space for a future tenant. Completion is expected in spring 2026.

“We’ve been planning for this for a long time,” said Brent Balkema, Owner, Journey Construction Group. “With our team growing and the expansion of our in-house trades, this project marks the beginning of a new era for JCG.”

Phase one will include demolition of the existing 4,000-square-foot warehouse at 750 Chicago Drive, followed by construction of the new building. Phase two will involve the removal of the current 1,500-square-foot office, which will be replaced with parking for the new facility.

More than half of the new space will be occupied by JCG, with the remainder available for a second tenant upon completion. The building will feature open office areas, modern conference rooms, collaborative zones, and a warehouse for the company’s in-house trades team.

JCG will self-perform much of the construction with its in-house team and will collaborate with trusted partner contractors.
