County hosts first-ever North Community Fest

Kent County will host its first-ever North Community Fest on Thursday, August 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Kent County North Campus, 4191 17 Mile Road NE in Cedar Springs. The free, family-friendly celebration will feature food, activities, and opportunities for residents to connect, have fun, and learn about the wide range of services the county provides.

Highlights of the event include: Food trucks serving local favorites, including Pronto Pup, Tacos El Cuñado Cedar Springs, and Nonno's Homestyle Italian & Pizzeria, free ice cream while supplies last, live demonstrations from the Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and Mounted Unit, face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon animals for kids, big trucks on display, including fire engines from Courtland Township and the City of Cedar Springs, and Kent County Road Commission vehicles, free backpacks for students in grades K–12 (while supplies last), and, on-site school vaccines provided by Kent County Health Department staff.

"This event is all about having fun, getting to know our North Campus, and bringing county government closer to the people we serve," said Ben Greene, Chair, Kent County Board of Commissioners. "We invite families, individuals, and neighbors from across the County to enjoy free festivities, food trucks, games, and more—while meeting our team and learning about the programs and services that support our community.

In addition to the fun activities, residents will have a valuable opportunity to connect directly with county staff and learn more about the many services available. Over 15 departments and offices will host meet-and-greet tables to share helpful resources and answer questions.
