Construction group celebrates opening of new headquarters

Journey Construction Group officially celebrated the opening of its new $3 million headquarters with a private ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by more than 150 guests. Friends, family, clients, trade partners, community partners, and employees gathered to celebrate the opening of the company's new 15,521-square-foot headquarters at 750 Chicago Dr. in Jenison. The new building was built directly behind Journey's original office, where the company first opened its doors in 2017.

"When I looked around before cutting the ribbon, I wasn't thinking about the building—I was thinking about the people standing beside me," said Brent Balkema, President of Journey Construction Group. "Having my wife, daughters, and our entire team there was a reminder that Journey has never been about one person. It's been built by the people who believed in us from the beginning, and that's what made this moment so special."

Since opening its doors in 2017, Journey Construction Group has grown from a small startup into a leading commercial general contractor serving clients across hospitality, retail, healthcare, dental, industrial, warehouse, and multi-tenant markets throughout West Michigan and beyond. Over the past couple of years, the company has expanded its team by more than 40 percent while remaining rooted in the same West Michigan community where it began.

"Our new headquarters represents much more than additional office space," Balkema said. "It gives our team room to collaborate, innovate, and continue growing together while staying rooted in the community where our journey began. We're excited about what's ahead and grateful for everyone who has been part of getting us here."

The new headquarters features collaborative workspaces, conference rooms, employee gathering areas, warehouse operations, and flexible space designed to support Journey's continued growth. An adjoining suite has also been developed for a future tenant, while providing the opportunity for Journey to expand into the space as the company continues to grow.
