Philanthropist and finance entrepreneur Chris Sain Jr. hosted a community giveback event on July 30 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, awarding more than $170,000 to 18 nonprofit organizations serving the greater Grand Rapids community.

“Grand Rapids has organizations doing extraordinary work every day, feeding families, mentoring young people, creating housing opportunities, improving health outcomes, and opening doors to brighter futures. These donations are more than financial gifts. They’re an investment in the people who are investing in our communities,” said Sain.

The organizations were selected based on their impact in providing critical support across the greater Grand Rapids community in areas including human services, housing, youth services and education.

The organizations receiving funding include:

  • Baxter Community Center

  • Dream K.I.M Speaks

  • Dreams Take Work

  • ICCF Community Homes

  • Lifequest Urban Outreach Center

  • LINC Up

  • Grand Rapids Initiative for Leaders

  • Grand Stand Pictures

  • Mosaic Film Experience

  • Realism is Loyalty

  • The Midwest Tech Project

  • The Delta Project
