Food pantry expands visit frequency to support families

In response to the recent lapse in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, the Allegan County Food Pantry is temporarily expanding how often clients can receive assistance. Throughout November, Allegan County residents who rely on the pantry will be able to visit once per week instead of once per month to help fill the gap caused by reduced federal food support. The pantry’s regular operating hours remain the same: Tuesdays from 2–6 p.m. and Fridays from 1–4 p.m. at 1313 Lincoln Rd in Allegan.

“We understand how this SNAP lapse is affecting families across our county,” said Alex Wilkening, Executive Director, Allegan County Food Pantry. “By allowing weekly visits, we hope to make it a little easier for households to keep food on the table during this challenging time.”

The pantry depends on community generosity to sustain its services and meet rising demand. Residents who wish to donate, volunteer, or support the expanded effort are encouraged to reach out.
