MSA Lakeshore has completed a major expansion of its Holland facility, adding 54,150 square feet of indoor space and expanding the site from a 3-acre campus to 10 acres. The project creates more room for athletes to train, compete and connect while offering new opportunities for families and community members to use the facility.
The public is invited to explore the expanded athletic complex during a free community open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at MSA Lakeshore, 12429 Ransom St. in Holland. Guests can tour the new spaces, learn about available programming, meet MSA coaches and team members, enter raffles, and enjoy drop-in volleyball, soccer and basketball activities for all ages.
“This expansion represents an important investment in the athletes we serve and hope to serve in the future,” said Sam Nichols, MSA chief operations officer. “As our programming has grown, so has the need for high-quality spaces where athletes can learn, develop and compete. We look forward to opening the doors and giving the community a firsthand look at everything the expanded facility offers.”
The expansion adds:
27,000 square feet of indoor turf space designed for 7-on-7 soccer.
A 13,000-square-foot indoor hard court for basketball and volleyball, featuring friction and force reduction technology designed to enhance athlete comfort and help prevent injuries.
A 91,500-square-foot outdoor turf field designed for 11-on-11 youth soccer and lined for lacrosse and football.
A new concession area, retail space and administrative offices.
An expanded parking lot with designated athlete drop-off and pick-up lanes.
Outdoor restroom facilities.
MSA announced the project in December 2024 following steady growth in its Holland programming. The additional space will allow MSA Lakeshore to serve more athletes and families from the Holland, Grand Haven and Muskegon areas.
MSA Lakeshore offers youth programming through the Michigan Basketball Academy, Michigan Volleyball Academy and Michigan Futbol Academy. Adult offerings include men’s and coed soccer leagues, pickleball leagues and flag football, while recreational drop-in opportunities are available for basketball, volleyball and pickleball.
The facility also features six dedicated pickleball courts for open play, ladder leagues, tournaments and private rentals. Community members can reserve courts and fields or rent the facility for parties, events and other gatherings.
“This is more than an expansion of our athletic footprint; it’s an expansion of how we can serve the community,” said Katie Renker, partner at Baton Collective, the ownership group of MSA. “From practices and competitions to open play, private events and family gatherings, these flexible spaces create more opportunities for people of all ages to be active together.”
MSA serves more than 8,500 youth athletes ages 2 to 19 each year at five West Michigan locations: MSA Lakeshore, MSA Fieldhouse, MSA Sports Spot, MSA Shoreline and MSA SportHouse. For more information, visit michigansportsacademies.com.
