Michigan Capital Network (MCN), a leading venture capital fund management firm and angel investing trade association, announced it has selected Ryan Ellis as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer.
“Powered by the efforts of our talented staff, we have substantially grown our investment activity and attracted new member investors,” said Paul D’Amato, CEO and Founding Partner at Michigan Capital Network. “Given this increased activity, we felt the time was right to add an experienced financial officer to our executive team.”
Ellis is a finance executive with 13 years of experience in private credit fund finance, private equity investment accounting, and public accounting assurance. He is a certified public accountant who most recently served as Vice President of Finance for Oak Real Estate Partners, a $460M private credit platform in Grand Rapids. In that role, he led financial reporting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, and investor relations for more than 8,000 institutional and private wealth investors, and oversaw auditing for eleven investment vehicles. Before that, he served as an investment accountant and manager for OA Private Capital, a $13.5B private equity platform. He also spent four years in assurance services with Plante Moran in Chicago and Grand Rapids.
“I’m excited to take on this leadership position with Michigan Capital Network,” said Ellis. “The organization is one of the most respected venture capital and angel investing entities in Michigan. I look forward to building on that legacy.”
Ellis holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.
