Coffee shop set to open in downtown Grand Rapids

Foxtail Coffee will open its newest Michigan location inside the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel on Friday, May 1, unveiling a redesigned space created to serve as a welcoming gathering place for hotel guests and the downtown community. Located at 187 Monroe Ave. NW, the café is centrally located in the heart of downtown, designed to serve hotel guests, convention attendees, theatergoers, downtown professionals, and residents throughout the day and into the early evening.

Designed with connection and comfort in mind, the 1,458-square-foot café features tabletop, barstool and booth seating, a streetside patio, and extended hours. The space also includes a hand-painted mural by local artist Sue Mulder, highlighting well-known downtown Grand Rapids landmarks.

The menu includes Foxtail Coffee’s extensive selection of handcrafted coffee beverages, teas, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and gelato. A curated selection of beer and wine is planned for the future.

“West Michigan has become a meaningful market for Foxtail Coffee, and opening inside the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is a special opportunity to be part of a place that already brings people together every day,” said Jason Mulder, Director of Franchise Operations for Foxtail Michigan. “We designed the space with the intention to be an inviting, comfortable space for hotel guests, downtown regulars, or people passing through for a great cup of coffee.”

For Cheri DeVos, Owner of Foxtail Coffee’s Michigan locations, the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel carries special meaning.

“The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is an iconic part of downtown Grand Rapids and a place my dad, Rich DeVos, helped bring to life,” DeVos said. “Opening a Foxtail Coffee in a space designed to bring both locals and visitors from around the world together feels like a natural extension of that legacy.”

Operating hours for the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel Foxtail are 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
