The LG Energy Solution’s Holland on Ice winter festival returns on February 6 and 7, bringing back professional ice carvers to transform more than 10,000 pounds of ice into works of art. The two-day event, hosted by Downtown Holland and Holland Parks and Recreation and sponsored by LG Energy Solution, will also feature frozen games, interactive sculptures for photo ops, and over 20 commissioned ice displays from local businesses and organizations.
Live carving will take place at GDK Park on Eighth Street between Central and River avenues from 4 to 7 p.m. February 6 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. February 7. Sculptures will be on display beginning at 4 p.m. on February 6.
The Meltdown Sale will coincide with the festival, with nearly 25 downtown shops and restaurants offering sales throughout the weekend. Patrons aged 21 and older can also enjoy beverages from nearly 20 participating bars and restaurants in Downtown Holland’s social district.
The weekend also includes the third annual Snowmelt 5K Race and Kids’ Mini Melt, co-hosted by Downtown Holland and Holland Parks and Recreation. The 5K fun run/walk will take place Saturday morning, February 7, with the entire course routed over Holland’s snowmelt system, offering participants a snow- and ice-free race experience. The Kids’ Mini Melt, a 0.2-mile non-competitive dash for children ages 7 and under, will begin at 9 a.m. on Eighth Street Market Place.
The 5K begins at 8 a.m. outside the Holland Civic Center, 150 W. Eighth St. Advanced registration for both races.
In-kind support is provided by Bowerman’s on 8th, Courtyard Marriott, Gazelle Sports and Holland Civic Center Place. For more information, visit https://downtownholland.com/holland-on-ice/.
